What to do at the scene of an auto accident
- REMAIN at the scene and Do Not admit fault.
- CALL the police to report the accident even if a minor accident has occurred.
- EXCHANGE information with other drivers.
Secure the following information:
-Name, address, driver's license number and phone numbers of other drivers and witnesses
-Year, make, model and license plate number of all vehicles involved
-Name of insurance company or agent for other drivers
- CONTACT your Insurance Company (see above information).
- DON'T discuss the details of the accident with anyone expect the police and your insurance company or accept claim settlements at the scene of the accident.
- GET Information about your claim.
What to do after a loss to your home
- IF an emergency call 911.
- PROTECT property from further damage by creating temporary repairs as soon as possible. For example, if windows are broken, have them boarded up. Please do not make any permanent repairs until the insurance company reviews the damage
- KEEP an accurate record of temporary repair expenses (receipts and bills) so you can add them to your claim.
- PROMPTLY contact and report the loss to your insurance company (see above).
- DETERMINE the damage by making a written list of what was damaged.
- TO complete assessment of your loss, your claim representative will inspect all damaged property.
